MOSQUE

info

MOSQUE

Istanbul / Turkey

The mosque is formed by two simple forms which reflects the serenity, harmony, brightness and pureness. With the prismatic core that is created by sliding the mass through kiblah direction, a mihrab orientation on the kiblah side and the narthex on the entrance side is created. Thus, a scheme which didn't go far from the traditional plan type is emerged. The gathering-place on both sides of the entrance are also taken as a reference.

By the prismatic glasses used in mihrab, the spiritual effect of the mosque is placed in the center of the building with regard to the spectrum that comes out from the movement of sun. These spectrum gave a special meaning to this natural phenomenon which is not always encountered.
